Garage Door Repair
Spring snapped, cable hanging loose, or the door stops a foot off the ground? We fix doors and openers of every brand from our shop in Sugar Land, with same-day visits when the schedule allows.
Safety Warning: Leave springs, cables and off-track doors to a trained tech. A wound torsion spring stores enough force to lift the whole door, and a slipped winding bar can break a hand or arm.
Common Garage Door Problems We Fix
Most calls start with one of these symptoms. Here's what usually causes each one.
Door Won't Open or Close
Common causes: A snapped spring (you may have heard a loud bang), a broken cable, a door out of its track, or an opener that hums but can't lift the weight
Loud Grinding Noises
Common causes: Rollers with worn or chipped wheels, dry hinges and bearings, or hardware that has worked loose
Door Opens Then Reverses
Common causes: Safety sensors knocked out of line or covered in dust, a close-force setting that's off, or something catching in the track
Door Moves Slowly
Common causes: Springs that have lost tension, rollers dragging in the track, or a worn opener gear
Gap Under Door
Common causes: A cracked or flattened bottom seal, an uneven slab, or a door hanging lower on one side
Remote Not Working
Common causes: A dead battery, a remote that lost its pairing, or the opener's lock button turned on at the wall control

Why Houston Homeowners Call Us
Ingenious is an owner-led shop at 15500 Voss Rd in Sugar Land. The owner has spent more than 15 years in the garage door trade.
Heat and Humidity
Gulf Coast humidity rusts springs and cables, and summer heat bakes bottom seals until they crack. Ask the tech to look at both while they're out.
Sugar Land Based
Our shop is off Voss Rd, so Fort Bend County and west Houston are a short drive for our trucks.
Authorized Dealer
We sell and install Clopay, Amarr and C.H.I. doors and LiftMaster, Chamberlain and Genie openers, so replacement parts match.
All Brands Repaired
The builder-grade door that came with the house still gets fixed, whatever name is on it or on the opener.
Need Emergency Repair?

Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly can you repair my garage door?
We do same-day repairs when the schedule allows, and most jobs are finished in one visit because the trucks carry common parts. If the door is stuck open or someone is shut in, call the 24/7 emergency line.
How much does garage door repair cost?
Spring replacement usually runs $400 to $650 total. Minor opener repair service calls start around $85. Replacing a damaged panel is typically $650 to $1,100. For anything else, the tech looks at the door and writes up a free quote before doing any work.
Should I repair or replace my garage door?
Look at the numbers. One bad section at $650 to $1,100 is usually worth fixing. If two or three sections are damaged, or the door is rusted through, a complete new door at $1,000 to $1,900 installed may cost about the same. We'll quote both so you can compare.
Do you repair all garage door brands?
Yes. We're an authorized dealer for Clopay, Amarr and C.H.I. doors and LiftMaster, Chamberlain and Genie openers, and we also work on Wayne Dalton, Raynor and other brands you find on Houston-area homes.
Is it safe to use my garage door while waiting for repair?
Not if a spring or cable is broken or the door has come out of its track. Leave it closed and keep the car out from under it. A noisy door or a remote that needs reprogramming is usually fine to use until we get there.
Prevent Future Repairs
A few minutes of upkeep a year catches most worn parts before they leave the door stuck.
Get a Yearly Tune-Up
Once a year, have a tech check spring balance, tighten hardware and look over the cables. Frayed cable or a tired roller is cheaper to replace before it fails.
View Maintenance ServiceLubricate Moving Parts
Every six months or so, spray the rollers, hinges and springs with a garage door lubricant (silicone or lithium). WD-40 is a cleaner, not a lubricant, so skip it here.

Lay a 2x4 flat on the floor under the door and close it. The door should touch the board and go back up. If it doesn't, stop using the opener until it's checked.

A door that jerks, drifts down when you let go halfway, or sounds louder than it used to is telling you something. Call before it turns into a stuck door.
